Bareilly: The Department of Ancient History and Culture at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, is witnessing growing interest among students as heritage studies, archaeology, and cultural preservation emerge as promising career fields in India and abroad.

Amid the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), increasing emphasis on cultural heritage conservation, and expanding opportunities in archaeology and museum studies, the discipline is gaining recognition as a dynamic academic and professional choice for young aspirants.

Speaking to media representatives, Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. P. Singh said that the admission process for the current academic session has commenced. Interested candidates can register online through the Samarth Portal and are required to submit their admission forms to the department.

Prof. Singh highlighted that graduates of the department are currently serving in universities, museums, archaeological institutions, archives, tourism departments, cultural organizations, and administrative services. The multidisciplinary nature of the subject has significantly expanded employment prospects in recent years.

Traditionally associated with teaching and academic research, Ancient History and Culture now offers opportunities in several specialized fields, including heritage management, archaeology, museum studies, conservation, tourism management, cultural resource documentation, and historical research.

Government initiatives aimed at preserving cultural heritage, promoting cultural tourism, and developing archaeological sites have further increased demand for trained professionals in the sector.
